Artemis - 2013-04-05 12:27 AM I went out and ran today.  It was about 45...a little colder than the other day, but I made it through.  Wish I'd dressed a little warmer.

That is the heart of everything.

Hahaha!  I HATE baseball season! Really... who, besides my FIL, watches 162 (or whatever) games? What's the point? I'm a football girl...make every game count!

Lovin' the pop tart kitty, and so will Yanti. lol

Exactly!!  You go over 25 and they just aren't that special or meaningful anymore.

I am a fan, I think I appreciate the length of the season. Every game matters, you've got to be good in the long haul. Also, only so many teams get in the playoffs. Too many teams in the playoffs waters down the meaning of the season. Not so much in football, but the other 2 major U.S. sports have a playoff system that is a bit overdone, IMO.

Oh hey, Brie. While you are here, where do you generally watch the marathon from?

I am planning on having my family pick a spot and stay put (rather than trying to see me more than once since, er, it's a pretty ginormous marathon compared to anything I have done before)

I was thinking somewhere on the public transportation line so they can watch me go by then maaaaaaybe see me finish.

*Specifically the green line to either woodland or reservoir

I usually watch it from my living room Wink I can ask some people I know from the local running club what they recommend.  I've only gone into town to see it once, and it was really really hectic (especially because my dad, who was running, got injured but we didn't know it and he took about an hour longer than anticipated while limping to the finish, and we thought he had been seriously hurt).  I"ll let you know what they say.

K, I'll send my friends and family to your living room. You are gonna be sooooo sorry and soooo delighted at the same time. Wink

Did my last tough track workout last night! Yaaaaaaaaaaay!

My training partner and I and JUST different enough that I needed my own timing device to complete my workout (as the rest of the group was doing a different, non-marathon specific workout) Anyway, I forgot a watch so I had to carry my phone and use the stopwatch function lol fun stuff ....

Anyway, the workout was supposed to be 8 x 800 @ 3:08 (so, that's a 6:16 pace for all you no-mathy peeps) with limited recovery (2:00 running in the turf)

Here were my splits:

8 x 800:
3:08
3:08
3:05
3:00
3:05
3:05
3:06
3:00

Then got a nice pep talk from our coach. I told him I fly in Monday and he thought I meant marathon Monday and was about to lose his sh*t.

You really need to work on being a bit more consistent in your splits

Haha, right? I thought I was doomed after going 8 seconds fast only halfway through.

Hey! Not bad for keeping looking down at your phone

I know. It was so awkward. Then I would get texts and phone calls from people who I couldn't identify since I lost all my contacts. Super cool! My phone was a sweaty mess at the end.

Lovin' the pop tart kitty, and so will Yanti. lol

Hmmm, I am a fan of lots of sports I guess. I have a hard time staying focused during a baseball game but I just supplement the lulls with beer and garlic fries.

Basketball has a long season but the sport is a hell of a lot more dynamic. I didn't used to be a big fan (except maybe in the 90s when the Sonics were cool) but J and my friends have converted me.

Football IS great, but watching it live can be questionable. Biggest D-bags go to those games. Ugh.

I have come to appreciate baseball more in the past few years, but I really only watch the playoffs.  Hockey, of course, is where it's at.  Basketball can take it or leave it; football the same.  Weird, cause 10 years ago, I used to watch football all day on Sundays and B-ball was my game in HS.

Yes, I am a fan of sports (have participated in most everything that's been available to try- lacrosse and hockey never nearby)...it's the length of the professional season that gets me. I primarily watch baseball and basketball when they've been narrowed down to playoffs.

First few dates with DH were to Oakland A's games. Beer and dollar dogs. lol  Ahhhhh...fond memories

Sadly, we've found that watching many of our sports live has put us in the direct path of DBs. And it makes it difficult to enjoy as a family with young children.

Scary and infuriating all at once.  Glad to hear she was able to get away.  There are times it stinks to be a female and this is #1 on the list: having to fear running/exercising alone.
