Rancid Nuts

I ate a pack of lance peanut butter crackers that were rancid... once.

Apparently it was about 2yrs expired and I didn't know it. Suprisingly it held together that long actually. I ate it, and immediatly went to throwing up. It was gross.

poetry thursday came early this week.

I took a trip to Florida with my wife last summer. She introduced me to the rancid peanuts they sell in the stores there, purposefully, grossest thing I ever did see someone eat aside from Fear Factor. Whoever decided boiling peanuts was a good idea is crazy in my book, even the smell is rancid. 

I have hit a few of them before...nasty.  

What was worse though, was when I was a kid my sister and I never really liked Skippy peanut butter so we had a jar that just sat in the cupboard forever.  One day we had no other peanut butter in house and I was in a hurry to get to a friend's house, so I used it.  I complained to my grandmother, who was visiting, about how bad the Skippy peanut butter tasted and she said I was just being picky because I liked Peter Pan...So I just shut my mouth, ate the sandwich and left for a friends house.  After I left she decided to taste the peanut butter...Yep...It was rancid and she had just encouraged me to suffer through an entire sandwich of it.

Very surprisingly, now I like Skippy better but I didn't eat any peanut butter for a real long time after that. 

That story is so hard for me to believe...peanut butter lasting long enough in a house to go rancid?  We're lucky in this house if a 40 oz. container lasts longer than 6 days.

Now, when you folks ate the kind of nut I ate, did you spit out jet black saliva?  I must say, in addition to the acrid taste, the jet black liquid I had to spit out was just awful.......but it hasn't stopped me from eating more peanuts and peanut butter.  

That would be a great band name
