Did the HITS Napa Valley today.

Just gotta say - LOVED the HITS transition setup.

Every racer's spot is marked individually with your name. There's a stool/seat just for you, as well as a good-sized box with an indentation in it for your wheel to hold your bike up.

There were zero episodes of latecomers squeezing way too close to your stuff, or even a question about who's gear was going into who's place. And the bikes were rock solid stable in the box - never had to worry about it tipping over.

Add in a well-manned entry/exit for security (they checked my race # every time and double checked it on the exit with my bike) and I'm sold on their setup.

The rest of the race was solid, at least with no hiccups for me. The roads were still open so yes there was car traffic, but it was out in the more remote sections of Napa, so really not an issue.

Good stuff.

Can only echo your impression. My wife did the HITS Naples in January, and we've both done many, many races (including in Europe) and this was the best organized and best set up transition area I've ever seen.

I did napa half today as well and loved the transition area too except for the gravel which sucked. I thought the after race food selection was horrible. The run was pretty hilly but that was expected. Roads on the bike sucked but that's not their fault either. I liked the hills on the bike too because it gave me a big advantage. Overall for the price it was pretty comparable to the other half that I did but I would do HITS again.

I got into this one for $75. Crazy worth it. I pay more than that for a sprint, typically.

Agreed.  Cadillac transition.  I did Ocala this year and last year.  Transition has always been great, lots of other things are getting better and better.  Food was about average or less than compared to some events, however, it was also not a $300 race.  Great race for a very attainable price.  Good plan if you ask me.

I'd be curious as to how the aggressive early pricing's turning out for them.

At first it seemed like they'd be bleeding cash by discounting so heavily up front with the 6 month early signup, but for sure, there were a lot of no-shows on race day.

same in Ocala. For the half I read there were over 450 registered with about 310ish on RD.
