Comments:

Super happy with my swim! No panic issues at all. I did have some negative thoughts in the first 100m, but once I settled in I was just fine. Slow, steady. Mostly breathed every second stroke. At turns, I did do 4 strokes. But to control anxiety, every 2 helped. I did pass a few people and a few passed me. I did get a little anxious when someone passed me and caused me to choke a little, but I stopped a second, gathered myself and moved on. I think I can safely say I'm past my swim anxiety issues. Now I'll try to focus on swimming faster. Although, 2:53 for a 100y isn't bad for me. I know I can get faster, though. My rank improved 5 percentage points from last year. Happy about that.
What would you do differently?:

I did seed myself to start way, way back. I think next time I'll be comfortable to start closer to the front. Other than that...I'd swim faster.
Transition 1
  • 03m 31s
What would you do differently?:

Coach Hubby always thinks I can go faster here. I tend to forget that I'm racing during transition.
Bike
  • 33m 15s
  • 9.5 miles
  • 17.14 mile/hr
Comments:

I feel really good about the bike portion. This is the first race I've done that I've really worked hard on the bike. I worked super hard, focused on keeping the rpms above 80 and worked hard with the gears. I passed a ton of people. Only a few passed me. I spent as much time as possible in aero. I am much more comfortable in that position and can ride faster. I was a 1mph faster than last year. I don't have much of a basis of comparison, but I feel good about that. My rank moved up 6 percentage points from last year. Also a win. I've really been liking biking lately. Really enjoying every minute I spend on the bike!
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Keep training so I can get faster and get better on the gears.
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
What would you do differently?:

Same as T1. I was fairly fast, but could have been faster.
Run
  • 25m 58s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

Super happy with an average 8:21 pace after working so hard on the swim and bike! I actually lost 7 percentage points in terms of rank compared to last year, but I don't care b/c my pace was :20 faster. My legs were SUPER tight about the first 5-7 minutes of running and that slowed me down somewhat. But once I loosened up, I purposely made an effort to pick up my pace. Another runner I passed on the course even called me out and told me I was "showy". Whatever dude...I suck on the swim...gotta make it up on the run. Really happy with the run!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
