Subject: Glenn Beck and the Saudi National

OK first let me get one thing clear.  I'm not a fan of Glenn Beck.  While I may align with *some* of his political opinions I don't like the manner in which he chooses to air them.  And I am not sure what the make out of his accusations this week.

However like just about everyone I heard about his "ultimatum" on Friday.  He claimed to have knowledge about the Boston bombing and challenged the government to "come clean" before Monday or he'd "reveal all".

I did not hear his broadcast today but read an article that summed it up.

http://www.christianpost.com/news/glenn-beck-reveals-controversial-intel-on-saudi-national-once-suspect-in-boston-bombings-94454/

Beck's (note bold) claims include:

  • The Saudi national who was originally detained as a possible suspect had been on the terror watch list tagged as a 212 3B which is "proven terrorism ties or activity".  US Customs and Border patrol had recommended deportation.
  • Despite this, he was given a visa to go to college in Ohio yet maintained an apartment in Boston.
  • The bombing happens and he's now a suspect.  Kerry and Obama both meet with the Saudi Foreign Minister and the next day the 212 3B designation is removed form his file.

So I guess the big question is if Beck can provide any documentation to prove any of this? I don't put it past Beck to "embellish" things to get ratings but he's making claims about things that should be relatively easy to check out.

At the very least these are odd enough circumstance that I think someone needs to address the accusations.

(BTW what's the over under on how many posts before I'm called a conspiracy theorist despite my best efforts to just present the story with no bias? )

The part I don't get about the Saudi conspiracy theories is that we (The United States) is about to pass Saudi Arabia in oil production.  By the end of 2015 with what we have tapped so far, we are expected to have North American (Mexico, US, Canada) oil independence.

Why would any US President/Sec State/etc. give any special treatment to any Saudi national?

It could be that he's actually a special agent for us and working for us and that's why we let him go, but I find it incredibly unlikely that it's anything but this guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was sent home.

*going back to polly-anna land...

rayd - 2013-04-22 5:04 PM Conspiracy Theorist!

Ahhh, but I'll just believe you were in on the plan to rig the over/under...

Seriously I'm not ever one of those types.  I'm just curious if the claims of changing his status are true.  And if they are.  Why?  And why did get a study visa if he was on the terror watch list anyway?

Let's face it, guys on both side of the spectrum talk crap all year and make thousands of predictions.

In the .0001 % time that they are right, they never shut up about their success.

Outside of Stewart or Colbert, no one ever really remembers or call them out for all the wrong BS.

I'll jump in so you at least have one other person wondering with you .    When Beck first came out I really liked him, but he went out to whacky land a bit too much for my liking so I rarely listen to him anymore.

I saw a story on Friday about this and listened to the show today to see what all the hubub was about and in my non tinfoil hat opinion there are some legitimate questions.

Here's the story with audio from Beck's site:

Beck Breaks Exclusive Information on Saudi National Once Considered a Person of Interest in Boston Bombings

The House Committee on Homeland Security is asking questions about this as well, so they add a little more credibility to the discussion.

OK, I might have to get out my tinfoil hat before the nights over because twice today Drudge has posted a story written by FOX News Radio's Todd Starnes about the Saudi national that was questioned in the Boston bombings having been on the terror watch list. Each of those stories were removed within minutes of Drudge linking them.  Hmmm
