Subject: Bike GPS phone app
I've been using MapMyRide for a while but it tends to get really buggy. I want my mom or a few of my close friends to be able to see me when I go for my long rides on live tracking (being able to find me if I have trouble is always a good thing). MMR gets stuck often or just goes crazy, so does anyone have any suggestions for a GPS app that tracks data and allows others to see where you are?

Probably not what you are looking for but the live tracking on the garmin edge 510 works great. Helps my wife find me when I need the SAG wagon.

I use Run keeper. Works great but doesn't let someone track you. I have a Google account so my wife can just log onto Latitude and always find me.

So it's two apps, but they both work great at what they do.

Indeed, if the app you like doesn't have a locator built in, you can use 2. iOS has find my friend (I think thats what it is called?) and on android, use latitude.

I used to use endomondo and latitude and it worked fine. Now, I would use Strava, but I wear a 910, so I just keep the phone on and my wife can ping me with latitude to check where I am.

I'll check out endomondo. I have a Droid and I don't think cyclemeter is available.

I believe with a Runkeeper subscription ... was like $19.95 for a year or so it does live tracking. At least it did that for me on my runs. Check it out!

A free and easy app to use for the iPhone would be "Find my iPhone." Check and see if droid has that app. It's not a fitness app but it gives a GPS location, on a map, of where your phone is.

Glympse. It is excellent because people don't need an iPhone (or any phone) to track you. Just a web browser.

I use Runkeeper, the free version, for my run and bike. With a subscription your route is live so friends/family can follow you. The subscription is RunKeeper Elite $4.99 a month $19.99 a year

If you're going to use seperate apps for tracking and bike computer check out the Wahoo Fitness App.  It works with ant+ and bluetooth hr, power & cadence sensors.  It can auto-upload to a bunch of the different logging websites, including mapmyride if you want to keep your data there.  Also you can have a LOT of data on one page unlike competitors who are putting 3-4 data fields on a screen the size of an iPhone! (pet peeve of mine).  Its free.  Only drawback is its not fully customizable which data fields you have showing.

Well then you should check out LocaToWeb which is a live GPS tracker that is made for this purpose. It shares your position and track data to http://locatoweb.com in close to real time so that your friends and family can follow you while you ride. It also keeps an archive of your trips if you choose to register (optional). App available for Android, iPhone and Windows phone.
