DC Rainmaker did a review on them, have you checked that out?

yes, but I was looking for other people's opinions as well before I decide not to go that route based on only dc rainmaker.

Honestly I have been researching too and besides DC there is not much out there yet some people have used them and are happy and supposedly the new firmware is going to solve most of the issues DC had with them.

I figure if its your only power source and you keep all the variables the same it will work just fine no matter if it reads high or low. Same concept as virtual power with trainer road if your base is 200 and you train on that number but its technically wrong it wont change the overall positive results.

The only thing that concerns me is the possibility for wrong power reading with a bad pedal stroke stronger one leg than the other.

If you keep *all* the variables the same that kind of limits your outdoor riding. Trainers are a lot more constant than riding on a road outdoors (and even so power can vary on trainers). The issue isn't how accurate a power meter is on average, it's knowing when it's not, and by how much.

Very true I meant more along the lines of using just what the stages says doing your FTP based on it and training based on it. Not comparing it to a quarq PT etc.

However, you are correct with things such as hills etc Guess we will see how the new firmware helps.

Training FTP is pretty close to the least demanding use of a power meter.

Yes, I'm interested in that, too. Note, however, that Stages pushed out the firmware changes in direct response to Ray's review, so that review has already had good results for everyone.
