I use an Amphipod one with a similar pocket to hold some gels if needed. |

The only thing I can think of is why somebody would make such a condescending remark on a 'beginner' triathlete forum. |

Master 8247 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Wait ...uh....someone stole.....I think.....wtf Water might very well be necessary on a 60-minute run, depending on weather and individual hydration needs. I even carry some for a 20-30 minute run if it's a brick and I might already be dehydrated from the ride. If you need that hydration, then a camelback, waist pack, or handheld is definitely worth the investment. I have a one-bottle Nathan waistpack and a two-bottle one from REI (holds 1.2 liters). They are life-savers here! If you're going to stash water, always do so in a bottle you don't care about losing. I try not to buy bottled water in those small bottles, but I usually end up with a few from events, so I save them for workouts where I want to stash water. In that case, I might be out of water, but at least not out of a favorite bottle if someone mistakes it for trash and throws it. Also, if you're running out of visual contact with the bottle for prolonged periods (in my case, I'm not, just doing repeats of a 400m-ish stretch) you do need to consider the risk that somebody could put something into it. Hide it well, not sitting out in the open. Maybe I'm paranoid, but slipping something into an unattended drink is a popular prelude to robbery or sexual assault in SE Asia. Could also be an tempting prank if you have the wrong kind of neighbors. Edited by Hot Runner 2013-05-14 7:04 PM |

Master 2167 Livonia, MI | Subject: RE: Wait ...uh....someone stole.....I think.....wtf I carry water on EVERY run I do, no matter how short. Crap, I don't sit at my desk at work for more than 30 minutes without taking a drink. Why the heck would a run be any different? Are people saying that if I sit at work for an hour in a cold office without breaking a sweat I have no hydration need and/or won't be thirsty? Plus, I love my Nathan handheld. I feel "naked" running without it. And I would never stash a bottle. You have no clue what happens to it between stashing it and picking it back up. Crap, a homeless person with a scorching case of herpes simplex one could've taken a sip. |

Regular 1358 Jenison, MI | Subject: RE: Wait ...uh....someone stole.....I think.....wtf I'm blown away that people are shocked that someone would drink water on an hour long run, I don't do it, but that doesn't mean I question anyone doing it. Some of us sweat a lot, and some of us have trained ourselves to drink a lot of water no matter what. Additionally, if you are participating in an Olympic (or longer), getting yourself used to taking in some water on the run is not a bad idea because you're likely to do so on the course as well. And to the OP, to add line breaks when using your iPad, it is simple: use the left pointy bracket "<", the letter "p"' and then the right pointy bracket ">". And yes, I realize pointy bracket may not be the most technical of terms!!! |

Expert 750 Hammond | Subject: RE: Wait ...uh....someone stole.....I think.....wtf Another easy way to fix the formatting problem on an ipad is to go to the settings wrench up above. Select forum settings and put no for the use rich editor text question. I used to change mine back and forth b/t ipad and regular computer and realized it doesn't really effect anything on regular computer. Now I just leave it turned off. Just wanted to offer another option, that for me is easier than the p and <> option. hth, Shelly Edited by fitmomma2010 2013-05-14 11:02 PM |

We were going for a group run and one of the people decided his baseball cap was annoying to wear. So he stashed it under a transformer in the bushes next to the Art Museum. When we came back it was gone, but then we spotted a homeless guy wearing it! Needless to say my friend did not ask for it back, and this went into the list of 'running stories to be told every time we head out as a group.' |

Veteran 416 Queen Creek, AZ | Subject: RE: Wait ...uh....someone stole.....I think.....wtf I think everybody who has commented here should quit drinking water for at least 2 days and report back. (kidding) I live and workout in Phoenix, so yup, I'm out there between 24 degrees and over 120 degrees, with (drumroll) water, no matter how short or long the ride or run. Whatever works for y'all with the water, carry it or don't, stash it or don't, and enjoy your run. I wonder if I stashed a donut on my run if it'd still be there on lap #2............ |
