Subject: 1304 Bikes - Raleigh's Non-profit Bike Collective Hi all,
Just wanted to spread the word about 1304 Bikes, Raleigh's non-profit bike collective. They have been closed for the last 4 years, but are trying to re-open. They are wrapping up a fundraising campaign that ends on May 31. Check them out at www.1304bikes.com. and donate here: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/gear-up-help-re-open-1304-bikes-r...
They are trying to raise $14,000 more in the next 10 days in order to re-open. And if they don't make it, you get your donation back. They are also looking for volunteers for when they do re-open.
From their website:
Raleigh’s only nonprofit bicycle program, past or present, 1304 bikes fills a unique niche in the bicycle community. It is the only place were Raleigh residents, regardless of income, can earn a bicycle, find spare parts, use community tools, and receive repair instruction. Our used parts supply and tools are provided to residents at no cost, and participants in the Earn-a-Bike program can obtain a free bicycle by volunteering to help at the shop for 1-8 hours.
Mission Statement
1304 Bikes is Raleigh’s collectively run nonprofit bicycle organization committed to providing facilities and instruction for local residents to obtain, repair, and maintain bikes at no cost.
Thanks for checking it out.
