Subject: Adding strength training mid-season?
Just wondering if it is a good/horrible idea to incorporate a little strength training mid-season. I just completed my first tri last week-a sprint- and have two Olympic distances coming up in 6 and 8 weeks.

The strength training that I would add would be rather light, but focused: ab workouts and arm lifting (bicep/tricep curls, pushups). I know, I should have been doing this from day 1. Question is if this will throw off my body, creating undo soreness/tightness. During week 7 of sprint training, I had a minor hamstring strain, which I still need to nurse every now and then. Comments are much appreciated!

Nothing wrong with adding strength training now, core especially (more than just abs).  Curls are not going to do much for you for tris though.  Better to work things like legs and lats if weights are your thing (personally I don't do anything but core work).

Like JohnnyKay just said, there's nothing wrong with adding in some strength training but it won't really help you in your triathlons.  If you like lifting weights then go for it but don't do it for the sole reason of improving your performances.
