Swim
  • 33m 52s
  • 1584 yards
  • 02m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was my first swim in the open water this year and my first tri ever. Navigating the waters was difficult. Additionally, getting into a rhythm was extremely difficult which added significantly to my time.
What would you do differently?:

Get more practice in open water. Work harder to get out front and keep pace with the leaders in the swim which is my strongest part.
Transition 1
  • 06m
Comments:

Getting my shirt on was near impossible and took an extremely long time.
What would you do differently?:

Have a race belt so I do not have to deal with numbers.
Bike
  • 1h 17m 40s
  • 25 miles
  • 19.31 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Go faster. I had enough energy I could have pushed myself a littler harder in the bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

Decent transition. I am sure it could be quicker next time around.
Run
  • 1h 01m
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Could have pushed myself harder. Difficult to gage run
What would you do differently?:

I would have run harder, and pushed myself to keep a pace of 9min mile or under.
Post race
Warm down:

Didn't do anything. Next time need to do something to stretch out, etc.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental challenges of being the first race.

Event comments:

It was a good race. I think it is a great tune-up race for better triathletes and a good race for beginners.

Congrats on finishing your first Tri! Don't worry about the times, the improvements will come with experience. Glad that you had a good time though. If you liked that event, I would recommend Pleasant Prarie in August or Lake Geneva in Sept.

Wow, I didn't even know about the forum until today. I know that I am responding approximately a year later, but thanks for the vote of confidence. As you see I did another one. No time improvement, but felt better about my ability to perform better. I am excited and will be probably doing the race in Pleasant Prairie in September.

Thanks.
