Subject: Quality calf compression sleeves?
I bought a pair of 2XU calf compression sleeves back in February, and they are already coming apart at the seams. I only hand wash them, never put them in the W/D. I expected them to last longer. I'm also now hearing some negative things about the quality of other 2XU clothing.

So do any of you calf sleeve wearers have better stories? What brand should I look for next?

Thanks in advance.
Brett

I noticed the same things with the 2XU sleeves. I started to be MUCH more careful about putting them on and taking them off. I think the seems start to tear from pulling on them extremely hard to get them up your calf. I haven't an issue once i tried to fold them up my calf, rather than pull from the top

I have a pair of 2XU sleeves that are wonderful.

I have 2 pairs of Zoot's that have torn two times. Zoot's customer service is fantastic and they've replaced them both times.

That being said, the Zoots are tighter than the 2XU. I "roll" them up and down my calves in order to prevent them ripping, I've learned. I also wash them on hand-wash cycle and air dry them.

Call 2XU and talk to them. Ask them about your particular pair and how to put them on and off and see if they will replace them or do something for you. You never know...they might.

I have had good luck with CEP. Although pricey. I have the sleeves and the socks, and I like them both.

i've not used them, but I have a co-worker who swears by Zensah - she used to use them when she ran/trained for marathons

Deep calf pain can be a tricky problem to deal with, and it’s appropriate that you are paying attention to this pain before it becomes a more debilitating injury.

Calf pain can have multiple causes. In your case, the most likely cause seems to be from a calf muscle strain. If you have had Achilles problems you can be predisposed to a calf injury.

I have a pain deep in my calf about five inches below the knee. A sports doctor did not feel anything wrong in the muscle, and there was no bruising. The tender spot can still be felt on massage.

On the long bike rides of 80+ miles I get very strong pain in my toes. I slow down my pace and I might recover, but when I hit the next hill it is back. Could this be some kind of circulation issue?

Does compression clothing really work? Coach AJ was able to try out a line of compression wear by Skins during the 2008 Annual Hawaii Ironman Triathlon.
