how about all the officers that direct traffic for our races. This weekend there was one that was near the finish and was smiling the whole time, despite temps. in the nineties and big crowds. He even played along and had a number marked on his arm.

Great to hear all the positive stories. I was a police officer for 15 yrs., the last 3 1/2 years I worked sexual assault/abuse. It was the hardest detail I've ever worked. I thank God for giving me strength, and the ability to do my job. Everything I've went through since, has made my time worth it, I was able to put some bad people in prison for a very long, long time.
Thanks again.....

It is nice to be appreciated for the job we do. I am glad to see the support the police get here.

I always write a letter to the mayor of whatever town I race in to let him know that I wanted to thank the officers individually being out there but that sometimes it is impossible and could he do it for me. And I figure any good feedback will combat any negative they may have gotten.

But back to being a cop. I wish more people would do a ride along and see what really goes on out there. I was very naive when I got hired 12 years ago and my whole life has changed from the things I have seen. If a ride along isn't your thing get a police scanner and listen to what goes on in your community. Maybe people would get more involved in the community and help combat some of the crimes that are occurring.

Thanks for the recogonition. I don't know many of you on this board but you all feel like friends to me.

I have been with Seattle PD for 21 years, this thread is right up there with the most rewarding things that has happened to me during a career that I love (most days). Thank you for starting this thread Marmadaddy!

I haven't been on BT in a few months.  I came across Whelshy's gratitude thread (AKA Nittney Lion Spanking thread) tonight, swim tips that I can always use, race reports by first timers and veterans, the 'don't change the name' thread, and then this one.  It is nice to come back to a place that still feels like home even though we've grown in numbers.
