If you just take it for what it is, you could see a person that achieved some peace through Jesus. That before in his/her life it was one way and now it is another. And Lisa feels baited because it is pretty much what it is. Religion is nothing more than a fellowship of people with a common belief. That fellowship being made of people is capable of everything people are capable of... control, division, condemnation, and superiority... as well as unity, forgiveness, compassion, love, and even peace. People use religion for what ever suits them at the time... just like using this bumper sticker as topic for yet another rehash of a 5000 year old argument... We could take the bumper sticker as a subject of how to find peace... and then we could share our experience of how we have done that in our life and perhaps find some unity and common ground on this strange trip we are on... But that is probably asking too much... we will use the bummper sticker to point out how someone else has it all wrong and our views/perceptions of how things should be/are are superior in order to gain some sort of social advantage or elevation by standing on somone else. What a commy you are turning into! This morning I opened the door to my 2 year old's bedroom and he's sitting in his crib and he says "Hi daddy". Also, when I got up my wife moved over and took my warm spot (it's the middle of summer, what is wrong with her??). That's how I know peace. |

My peace comes from a "burden shared is a burden lessened". I'm not real happy these days and I take it out on those I love. The wife and I had a really good talk the other day (after a fight) and the truth is we are both scared and don't really know what to do, but that we will do it together. Today that is what I am working on, and I have hope... which gives me peace. |

That whole "Everything I Really Need to Know I learned in Kindergarten" thing is more appropriate than not and I pity those that constantly look for conflict in life. Judging and conflicts and adversarial situations just drain you mentally and physically - brings in a darkness. It's more fun to work on my golf swing than get in a rage about the guy who cut me off in traffic or someone on some personal religious high horse. People that are overly judgmental or think they are always right entertain me and I enjoy poking them with sticks. |
