Did my first oly yesterday. Time was 2:37 which I was pleased with.

Prior 2 tris were sprints, so short I did not need any liquid on the run.

Yesterday's event was warm and I really needed liquid on the run. I grabbed water at the stations but I think 95% of it went ON me.

I actually got so thirsty that around mile 4 I stopped for 5 seconds just to drink.

Any tips for drinking on the run without stopping??

Grab the cup and compress the sides so you have a narrow slit to drink from, then slow down to a slow jog while drinking. It'll take a few times to get the motions down, but you will pick it up with practice.

To the cup squeeze I would just add don't try to get the whole cup down, but rather take water at more/all of the aid stations. Make sure you're coming off the bike hydrated too.

Thanks for the tips.

I will practice and hopefully add this ability to my skill set.

As a cyclist, it's so much easier drinking on the bike!

When I first joined this site, there was a great video posted under articles, and the coach there recommended walking 10 steps through the aid station (although he was talking about HIM, IM races). I have used that advice for any race that involves using the aid station. I find that it makes a smoother hand-off of the drink, ensures that it does down and not on, and gives a very brief respite for the legs that I more than make up for by being properly hydrated.
