Subject: 2009 Trek 1.5 Pricing
Okay, I am new, new, new to Tri's.  I am looking to buy a bike, but want something I can grow into (a little bit), i.e. not steel!  My local bike shop has a 2009 Trek 1.5 in great shape, but is asking $850.00 for it.  From what I find on the web, it should be between $500 and $600... am I off??  What is reasonable for this bike?

That is very steep. I am going to un-load my 2011 Trek 1.5 sometime this fall and I hoping to get $500 out of it.

Sounds pricey.

I have a Trek Speed Concept 2.5 I was hoping to get $700 for.

I bought the same bike (lightly used) from a tri club teammate for $750 last year. Didn't think it was that great a deal but I didn't find anything better locally in my size, either in shops or on Craigslist, and I didn't have time to wait for something to come up. Plus, it was a great fit, so worth it to me. Can you bargain with the LBS? At times I've mentioned that an asking price on something (aerobars, bulk purchase of gu) is too high for me and they've come down a bit. In our case there are several shops in my hometown and the competition for business (plus with online companies) is stiff.
