Awwwww...PUPPIES!!!

If you get a little girl, you could name her Katie. That's my puppy's name...even though she's 14, she's still my puppy. She's the best dog we've ever had...smart, cute, loveable, obedient (she was a champion in her puppy obedience class...trophy and all...) She knows that her days are coming to an end (although I hope she hangs on for a few more years.) I love my puppy...

So if you want to carry on the name of a legend, name her Katie.

I like the name Duke for a male dog.   But we just had this conversation with my roommate who got a dog.  I wanted to name him "my balls"   So you can say I have to go home and play with my balls, or i have to go walk my balls.   My roommate didn't buy it either and named his dog Bode.

Remember what Steve Martin named his dog in the movie "The Jerk"?  Yeah, that's a cool name for a dog.

As a matter of fact, I call my lab by that name all the time.

We adopted a white lab from the shelter last December. We figure she is roughly over a year old now and we can not imagine life without her. Rosie is such a loving, cuddly (all 50-plus pounds of her-from what I hear she is small), just-want-to-please-you, loves to play ball (allday/24 hours-a-day) and a bed hog. She has definately been entertaining. Definately a spaz. If I had known that before I brought her home, I would have named her Spaz.
Enjoy your puppy, be patient with him for he will seek out your most treasured item and chew/shred to his little hearts content and then, with his little head held high and tail wagging, bring it to you as a trophy. ;-)

Love Emmitt (cuz he was a Gator first!), named our doberman Jack after Jack Jackson...

Have a cat named Floyd, and he's super cool.  Another cat named Tinkerbell, she's a painintheass!

I vote EMMITT!!

Okay, reviewing the thread to date: Floyd and Flandis are both good names. But Kona is better.

How many traithletes, do you think, have a dog named Kona?

I like Dog Threads so much better than cat threads.

Dogs run with their Triathlete buddy, cats wait at home licking themselves.

Matchman - 2006-07-24 2:34 PM I've always thought that I'd love to name a dog Stan or Phil or Steve or Murray or something completely human and normal.

I have a dog named Stan and just found out today that that name is just one mere letter away from Satan. Really, that explains more than I ever would have thought...

I think the name Zipp is just great for a bike freak, myself!

How about 'Mosely,' as he'll most'ly do as you ask.  Humh, using that logic my next cat should be named 'Nadda.'

Which is why he won't name it Kona. Its a pretty name, but there are too many dogs at races named that.

I thought about naming my yellow lab Kona when I got her.  I think I only called her that once and realized it just didn't fit her.  It's a cool name, but not for every dog.  Plus like Comet said- there are so many triathletes that name their dog Kona- it's not unique.

I am still voting for Flandis.  It's catchy, tough, and cool.  And when people ask you'd have a really cool story to tell.

I'm not sure it's particularly tough...sounds too much like Flanders.

Well what if the puppy acts like Flanders?  Then the name would be even more appropriate!

But... Flandis can be tough.  If the pup acts like Landis and is tough,  then the name Flandis would be tough.

Definitely. Just not tough.

How about Sprint or Oly? Both fit the nature of Labs.

Oooh, this may be the best one yet.

"S" names are supposed to be a bad idea ("sit" and "stay" begin with S and we don't want the dogs to have an excuse to pretend they don't understand those)... but I do like it.

Sun & Shadow.
