No more hills in the art park. From their facebook page...

"We have a new run course. The two loop course will be spectator friendly as athletes will run down Fayetteville Street twice. After one lap, athletes will make a left on Davie Street one block before the finish. After the second lap, athletes will stay straight to the finish in City Plaza. "

Some folks on Facebook (including louiske) that they will miss the hills. I personally have no desire to repeat the sufferfest from last year so I'm glad to see them go.

Unlike Alan I think it sucks. That turned out to be a defining characteristic about the Raleigh course. (I realise that I might be biased to courses that essentially help runners)
But hey, we now have another multi loop spectator friendly course with no real teeth.

Yes, Ronnie, I have registered. Signed up when it opened to get Early Bird price.

Could not agree with QR more! Instead of having an all around fair course that is built for all around strengths, we now have another run of the mill course. But hey, it will sell more entries, so good for WTC.

Agreed 100% Daryn. As much as that run sucked, it was what gave that race some personality. Guess we'll have to throw in some headwinds on the bike this year, or make everyone do the run in their bike shoes.

Don't make me go back and check to see if any of you guys were rooting for 2013 to be wetsuit legal!

Just kidding. As someone who has to train my butt off just to not lose races on the run (although it's not like I'm winning them on the swim or bike I suppose), I will remain steadfast in being happy to see the hills go. And maybe in 2014 my wife won't have to come find me in the medical tent.

I root for EVERY race to be wetsuit legal. I have changed my checklist to include these words at the top:
DID YOU PACK YOUR FREAKIN' WETSUIT???

And I did suffer on that run, but it was my own doing from trying to make up lost ground from the swim, on the bike. Rule #1, there is no "making up lost ground". I wanted to give it a proper, race-worthy, effort.

I just finished the NYC marathon on Sunday and I think I'm going to venture into triathlons. I am doing an Olympic distance and I want to do a 70.3 next year too. Any advice?

It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.
