Subject: HR-max while running I am new to the field of running. I have started a Couch-2-half-marathon plan. I find my HR reaches my peak HR during my runs. I can maintain a Zone 5 HR for ~0.5 miles.
I read that the HR response is different depending on the activites. I rarely hit/maintain >97% HRR on bike rides. Is it the case that my body just needs to get used to the concept of running? Or should I be taking it slow?
For some context, I have biked/swam most of my life. After a 5 year break in activities, I have been fairly active for most of the year and completed a Half aquabike (1.2 mi swim/56 mi bike ) in July. I am aiming for a 70.3 next year.
Thanks
K
