BALTIMORE — Tom Clancy, the best-selling author of "The Hunt for Red October" and other wildly successful technological thrillers, has died. He was 66.

Penguin Group (USA) said Wednesday that Clancy died Tuesday in Baltimore. The publisher did not disclose a cause of death.
Gonna miss his stuff.

Literally just read this. What a shame, been a fan since his first book. Hunt for Red October is one of my favorite books and movies.

That blows.  He was just getting back into it too.  (I think he was on hiatus for a while (like 12 years) due to a divorce or something).  I read just about everything he wrote and in the process of rereading his "ryanverse" books.

What a great writer. Loved the detail, and really loved the pro-US military emphasis. For those that read 'Debt of Honor', what were your feelings when you watched the planes hit the World Trade Center on 9/11?

I read "Red Storm Rising" when I was in the Navy on a carrier. When I got to the part when the carrier was sunk... well needless to say I thought that sucked.

I liked his stuff.

He's up there as one of my favorite authors.  I got hooked on his books back in the Navy and have read every one.

I read Debt of Honor after 9/11 so if he could think of it why didn't the federal authorities?

The start of the race I had the jitters. I was watching the other age groups start as they seeded the swim with over 1000 participants.
