The mention of changing of babies diapers in the breastfeeding thread brought to mind another point.

When my wife and I are out to eat with our son, 90% she has to change his diaper. The problem is there aren't many restaurants around here that have appropriate changing stations in men's rooms. Olive Garden is the only one that comes to mind that always has one. There are a few that might have just enough counter space, but thats hard to come by. There are occassions where it just me and my son out to lunch, so we usually go to Olive Garden. I'd rather not have to resort to using the table.

Recently he said Daddy, I got to pee. So I grabbed him and headed off to the rest room, both stalls were in use so I stood him on the counter and said go ahead. Just as he finished, a guy came out and gave me a dirty look. I said hey, it was either the sink or the back of your shirt. (He was about a foot taller than me and about 100lbs heavier.)

Screw that fat pretentious pasta eating a**hole.  My son's needs come first and if he needs to pee in a sink, then tubby can deal with it.  Should he make a remark in the presence of little Mac, he deals with my foot up his a**.  Although being a super-clyde at 6'3", 240lbs may not be the ideal size and weight for tri racing, it's pretty good for whooping the a** of some guy who looks crosseyed at my son.

(I'm a little testy this week...sorry)

Kid with an emergency - O.K., I guess, if there were no other options.

Drunk girls pulling down their pants and sitting in the sink to go - no.

Good for you. Do what you have to do and I wouldn't have been disgusted by seeing that.

After a race last month while loading up the car, we see a little boy holding 'it' and needing to go (about 40 feet away). We're in a field, no bathrooms or anything around. The mom puts him next to a tiny tree and tells him to go ahead. We start clapping and cheering and he laughs. She apologizes that he is potty training and I said no need (it was funny) and its good for him to learn; better than in his pants. Bravo little man!

Thats the attitude I had too. But I didn't want any of his blood splattering on my new shirt, and he had a BF% of about 5% (looked like a body builder.) Still didn't stop me, if I had to go I would have gone on his shoes. Just to prove a point.

Thats what I'm talkin about!! I'm waiting for the day to re-enact the brick wall scene from Big Daddy with my son.

And peeing on a wall with my son post gives me a red star!!

I was oblivious to the fact that men's room didn't have baby changing stations until I was at the store and said i would change my God Son.  I got in there and there was no where to change him.  I thought long and hard and went out, grabbed a plastic bag and put it on the floor with tons of wet wipes.

Keep in mind this was the 1st time I'd ever changed a diaper!  I used about 30 wet wipes and was very MAD that they didn't have a baby changing station.  Now I make a mental note when I see one in a Men's room.

YEAH...Red STar post!!!

I've changed diapers in a lot of weird places.  My kids have also probably peed outside more than most kids.  If we're in the car and they have to go it's not very easy to have them wait.  I uaually find a big parking lot and go way to the back where it's empty.  I have the perfect "hold" so that I can lift them up and still not get pee on my legs (my dad invented this one I'm pretty sure )

Is there a pamphlet with a diagram for this? Not like it really matters to me, he peed on me the first time I changed his diaper. "Daddy needs another shirt. And can someone wipe down that wall behind me?"

The hold is for the girls - I didn't think you'd need to hold up the boy - I thought he stood up and aimed on his own.  I've also been peed on many times by the baby boy - it's funny what doesn't gross me out anymore.

Yes he does. I'll call on you when we have a girl.  Yeah, becoming a parent must turn off the gene that causes embarassment and the ability to be grossed out. It also activates a gene that produces an antibacterial enzyme in your saliva after a few months. Mommy spit can clean up the Exxon-Valdez oil spill in 10 minutes flat.
