Swim
  • 17m
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was pretty happy with my time on the swim. I met my goal time, but got side cramps about halfway through.
What would you do differently?:

I need to learn how to not get side cramps and/or how to deal with them!
Transition 1
  • 02m 32s
Comments:

It went pretty well, not too hard since I didn't have to deal with a wetsuit. I'm guessing the time since I looked at my watch again!
What would you do differently?:

I could probably go even faster, but I felt pretty dizzy getting out of the pool so I didn't rush things.
Bike
  • 00m
  • 15.3 miles
  • 0.00 mile/hr
Comments:

The course had some tough hills, especially on the first half since the wind was against us. The ride back was a lot easier.
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on my recovery after the hills, I get up them ok, but then I have trouble getting my speed back up again.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

It seemed to go ok.
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.1 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

I did horrible on the run, since I don't know my split times I'm not sure what my time was, but it was NOT good. I was so hot and so tired I had to walk probably about half the time. I also had a lot of trouble with the big hill.
What would you do differently?:

I really need to train more hills and work on my running a lot more. The run is by far my weakest segment. My running isn't very good to start with and then during a race by the time I get to it I'm so tired that it goes even worse then usual.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking, stretching, lots of water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat and my bad running. Overall, I think I need to work on my cardio.

Event comments:

The race didn't do split times, which kind of sucked. I looked at my watch as I got out of the pool so I knew my approximate time on the swim, but the rest I'm not sure of. It also would have been nice to have age group rankings.

I probably should have mentioned that this was only my second triathlon so I'm just getting the hang of things.

Great job! Do you live in SLO? I did the race too.

What time did you start? The Johnson Ave. hill is a killer on the run.

I live in Paso Robles. You did the SLO triathlon too? How did it go for you? Ya, that Johnson hill was pretty tough! I didn't register early enough so I didn't start until about 11:20, next year I'm going register right at 8:00 on Sat.!

Glad to hear there is someone else in the area!

4minutes improvement over last year's time. Yeah, registering at 8:00 did get me a 9:00 start time, but Parks & Rec tweaked the registration sofware this year and I didn't get s good a time as last year.

Are you going to do the Kennedy Club triathlon in October? I won't be doing it this year as I've already comitted to a marathon a week later.
