Event warmup:

200m easy swim
Swim
  • 06m 48s
  • 400 meters
  • 01m 42s / 100 meters
Comments:

Decided to start up the front and on the inside line. Pushed hard early but just fell off the leading pack. Headed the main pack into T1 and was reasonably happy with my swim.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work a little on my top end speed so that I can stick with the pace at the start of the race. Tried a new set of goggles and the leaked like anything, won't try them again!!!
Transition 1
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

No issues
Bike
  • 29m 1s
  • 15 kms
  • 31.02 km/hr
Comments:

Tried to push hard but my legs felt a bit dead to be honest. Had an early wave start the roads were pretty quiet which was good. Have been working hard on the bike over the last month but I still need to focus on it because I lose a lot of time to the top guys in comparison to the other disciplines.
What would you do differently?:

Keep training hard.
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Quicker than T2
Run
  • 17m 10s
  • 4 kms
  • 04m 17s  min/km
Comments:

Really happy with my run but disappointed with the time. Didn't wear my 910XT so I'm not sure if the run was long. Felt like I pushed really hard and had good rhythm and a quick turnover. RPE wise I felt like I was running around 4min/km so I was surprised with the run split. Had a good duel with one guy in my AG over the second half which kept the pace high but I couldn't quite get him.
What would you do differently?:

Running is going okay, just need to keep doing what I'm doing.

When we get ready to train or race, we have a pretty fixed set of thoughts. We are unaware of how they affect our racing.

My expectations for the quality of this years’ Triathlon world championship were fulfilled. This was because of the superb location that is like no other along with having the top triathletes present.
