Found 610 for 10bucks less than the 220. My wife is prone to killing electronics and based on that would lean towards the 50M waterproof 220 vs water "resistant" 610. Anyone have any water issues with the 610? I've read good things on 610. My wife doesn't care about the black color vs the purple option of the 220.
Opinions? Thanks! Scott

i bought a refurb 610 well over a year ago and have had no problems.  just make sure to clear the data on it every once in a while.  i've put plenty of miles in the rain on it too.  wore it in the shower after a run once on accident as well... i wouldn't worry about "water resistant", just don't swim with it.

Here is a comparison chart:

I think the feature I would miss the most if I bought a 220 would be virtual partner.

at this point... would you consider the 310XT at all??
(I've been thinking about it... but really have no clue)
the price is reasonable, but it IS an older model/option...!

I still don't get why people say that the 610 is not waterproof. I have one, and I trained all of this year for my IM with it. I swam with it 3 times a week indoors, then 3 times a week outdoors (1.5 hour sessions) and I had absolutely zero problems with it. I never took the damn thing off except to charge it. I wore it running in the rain, riding in the rain, in the shower, in the pool, in the lake. Zero problems, nada. Funny thing is I didn't even know that it wasn't "waterproof" until I started looking into the 310xt vs the 910xt debate and started comparing features.

Maybe your milage will vary, but I ran 700+ miles, rode 4500+ miles and swam 330,000+ yards with the thing this year (including IM Wisconsin, until the battery died 4 miles into the run) in all conditions and it worked flawlessly.

I don't have a 220 so I can comment on that. I have a 310 XT as well, and that thing is great too.

Dwayne

the 610 is water resistant.  the spec on it is fine for rain, shower, and generally getting splashed and wet.  Swimming with it- is a risk.  Glad yours is still alive.
