Subject: RE: Hoka One One Virginity: Gone Yes, I'm kinda hooked on them too. I've been running with them for 8 months now, just ordered my 3rd pair of Bondi B2s. I can't claim to have been injury free since starting with them, but right now I'm doing better than I have in a long while. This week I'm doing 50 miles in them, and the legs feel great. Most encouraging of all, my achilles problems have actually gotten *better* as I've been increasing the miles. Not sure how much of this can be attributed to the Hokas. Two other things that I've done since a summer injury that might have helped: (i ) put small heel inserts into the Hokas, in an effort to reduce the strain on the achilles; (ii ) religiously doing eccentric heel drop (and calf raise ) exercises each night. For a long time I would get up in the morning and feel totally stiff, and have to hold onto the railing when walking downstairs for the first time each day. Now I get up and can walk cleanly downstairs, and that alone makes me start the day with a smile on my face. |
