DO IT!

I was thinking the same thing until I saw my coach set me up for a brick after doing Rubber Glove! Holy crap I'm going to die....

1/25 - Rubber Glove (60 mins... including an FTP test)
1/26 - It seemed like a good idea at the time (2 hours, never done this one before)
1/27 - Revolver (45 mins, mostly high intervals)
1/28 - Hell Hath No Fury (75 minutes)
1/29 - Extra shot + The Wretched (20 + 48 minutes)
1/30 - A very dark place (51 minutes, one of my favs)
1/31 - Angels + The Hunted (Sweet Jebus, that's 2+ hours of hell)
2/1 - Blender (1 hr 45 mins)
2/2 - Violator (68 minutes)

If I can make it past the Angels/Hunted day I'd consider it a success.

Same here. I do plan on watching the first half of Season 4 of Walking Dead and probably the new Batman trilogy to pass some of the time. All stuff I've seen before but can provide good background noise.

I did it last year and am in again for 2014... the 50 hour window to complete the ride for the 'day' helps.

I'm not doing the Tour, but I have done a lot of their vidoes, at full TrainerRoad power.

I will be very impressed with anyone who doesn't sandbag the FTP test, but can do the entire tour at full power. Those are some really, really hard rides.

I would be willing to bet that the day 2 ISLAGIATT ride will be unfinishable for over 85% of the people who try it if they do it at full TrainerRoad 100% power on a nonsandbagged FTP test.

Ok. Fine. I'm doing it, damnit. Will try to get in some short recovery jogs during the tour and some easy swims.

Bring on the suck.

I'm considering jumping in as well. I wrote in another thread about a calf injury from last night, and I'm thinking that maybe this will help keep well worn out, and keep me from wanting to jump back into running till it's over.

We'll see, still have a few days to decide.

I fully expect massive suckage, but I don't plan on mailing the FTP test in. If I can't keep up with the #'s I'll just do as good as I can. The way I look at it, hitting 100% of the power numbers the entire time is pretty much impossible, at least for me. The rides ask too much of you over 9 days in a row, just the test alone should leave you not wanting to ride the next day. I plan to do what I can even if it means breaking down and not hitting every interval, then so be it.

I agree with this.  there is no way anyone has their FTP set correctly and can do all days at 100%.  Day 2 isn't going to be too bad since you can recovery easily from a single 20 minute effort.  Day 4 will expose the true Sufferlandrians.

I've done a few of the TrainerRoad Sufferfest workouts, but when I added the videos to the workouts, it was MUCH, MUCH harder. The video has you doing attacks, attempts at gapping, breakaways, etc. that TrainerRoad does not add.

I'm not doing the ToS, but I have been doing some of the longer workouts (Isla Giatt and Local Hero) on TrainerRoad (like I said, with video) and my legs are wrecked...absolutely wrecked.

Good luck to those of you that attempt this madness!

Anyone plan on playing the timezone game or doing it legit? A ride every 24 hours.

I plan on doing every 24 hours but can see how the time zone game can be very appealing! I did see where they changed the rules about the doubles for this year. Last year you could break them apart. This year it's back to back. Could be very interesting!

Countdown is on...

Angels and The Hunted back to back is going to be nearly impossible to maintain 100%. I crashed and burned on the final sprint in The Hunted last time, and that was without Angels proceeding it.
What's the time zone game anyway?

Technically you can do the scheduled rides at any time during that "day". From TR

*Each tour day is active while it's that day anywhere in the world. It starts at 12am Kiritimati time (UTC+14) and ends at 12 midnight American Samoa time (UTC-11). This makes each tour day last 50 hours and days overlap. Local time is irrelevant. Rides must be completed and uploaded to our servers during this 50 hour window to be eligible to win prizes.

I plan on doing mine in the evening or late afternoon every day. Runs will be in the AM -- I plan to at least continue easy aerobic runs each day and the occasional easier swim. I've been focused on running since Oct with just a few rides/week, so I'm really excited about this getting my bike fitness started for Spring races.

I'm playing the timezone game... I have a work trip Sunday through Tuesday, so in order to fit in Monday's stage I'll be doing Sat - Mon stages on Kirimati time, and then I'll pick the tour back up in US Central time on Tuesday night when I get back.

Bib is ready to go! Just need to print it off! And get your mind out of the gutter when you see the number. It's my local tri club membership number.

If you haven't seen this yet you can give yourself whatever number you want.

"Fandom" in triathlon compared to other sports. If you're a sports fan and simply love to follow sport, why pick a sport that may offer a view of the start, the finish and a few moments in between?

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
