Hey everyone, I've been interested in Tri's for awhile and decide to throw my hat in to mix. I'm planning on racing on 9/11 in Madison,CT, does anyone have any quick tips for another new guy? See ya in the field. :-)

From another Clydesdale.....work on the cardio/endurance side. Granted, it should be a regular part of your workout, but maybe spend a little more time on it, remember, we are carrying a little bit more around than the average Triathlete. Good luck,

Work on getting your hydration and nutrition needs worked out before the race.  Clydesdales and Athenas burn a little more than the average athlete.

Cardio vascular work is good as are proper nutrition and hydration but you will need the proper gear. Familiarize yourself with proper swimming technique; take a few lessons if need be. Get fitted for proper running shoes; go to a runner's shop, not K-Mart. Find a good training/racing bike and make sure that it is in good working order. Other than that, pick a good training schedule (look on the home page) and stick to it. Oh, and congratulations for your decision to change your life around for the better. Good luck.
