I hate them and love them at the same time. Much like the person who brought a bunch of holiday cookies in this morning... And I just walked into the break room to find a pecan pie just sitting there all innocent-like. EVIL!! pecan pie is gross (i'm going to be a horrible texan) but pass the cookies on over here!!!!!!!! yay! More cookies! gah! Will the madness of holiday treats ever end? (well, yes... come the new year) |

Champion 10550 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: NewTAN's Third Law of Motion Originally posted by tech_geezer Anyway. My watch may go on sale. as well as the bikes and other stuff. I just developed a form of dizziness called BPPV. I put up an post in the Triathlon forum that links to my blog on blogspot. The BPPV makes standing a challenge. I am still hoping that it resolves with no after effects. We shall see. TW I just looked this up, and it really doesn't look like a heckuva lot of fun. I've had 1 episode of vertigo and it was enough to make me want to crawl on the floor if I had to try and get anywhere. Fingers crossed for you that it resolves, or that you can get treatment for it. |

Elite 4344 | Subject: RE: NewTAN's Third Law of Motion Originally posted by blueyedbikergirl Thanks BEBG. I have been to the PT. The treatment is this odd procedure of a series of precise head positions designed to move the crystals in the inner ear canals to the less sensitive areas. It sort of helps. My current state is a vague sensation of uncertain balance, roughly equivalent to a couple of glasses of wine. BPPV may turn out to be a huge money saver for me.Originally posted by tech_geezer Anyway. My watch may go on sale. as well as the bikes and other stuff. I went Christmas shopping with JWKMH. Turning my head is the thing that brings on the dizziness. Walking down the aisles and looking at things was a problem. I shall switch over to internet shopping I think. I am probably going to have to get the PT to do his thing again to see if the rocks in my ears can be re-situated.

Veteran 312 Austin | Subject: RE: NewTAN's Third Law of Motion Merry Christmas Tan from TX. Nice day here in central Texas 60's. With Xmas cookies, food, dinners, breakfast, tamales, and junk food I need to be training for an Iron Man to keep my weight in check. I have put on 4 pounds. X mas presents I got new Tri shoes, new bibs. Boy has anyone seen the S5 Cervelo road bike. Wow? My wife thought I was looking at porn on the internet, and she saw the bike and now thinks I am getting carried away with this Tri thing. I have to admit that S5 sure is a beauty! Happy New Year |

Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: NewTAN's Third Law of Motion Awful start to the holiday. Contractors have the house torn up, the boss suddenly wanted a bunch of stuff done before Christmas break so some of us were pulling all-nighters. I have been doing my 10 hours at the office then staying up to 1am-3am getting things moved and ready for the contractors each day. Can't train, running on fumes. Wife calls all day to ask what she should tell the contractors about this/that. Complains how they messed things up or asked how they were going to fix something... BUT, despite all that, it IS the START of the holiday! No work or contractors tomorrow. Going to get Drunk on holiday eggnog! Oops, don't have egg nog so I guess it will have to be straight bourbon. PLUS I have the week off following Christmas off so I can supervise the work. It will be worth it in the end, the house will be fantastic! MOST of the heavy lifting is done. Just need to move everything back into the bedroom after they are done with the flooring, stonework, and paint. The house will be transformed from a dated 80's style house with wall to wall carpet décor to a hardwood/tile house where fancy people live! Not sure if I'm a fancy man, but I can try! Even pulled out some old classic DCM speakers after they gathered dust in my closet for 10 years. I was worried they wouldn't work (dried out surrounds) but man! They sound every bit as good as I remembered. We now have a "parlor". Go figure, a parlor! I think I need a giant globe that doubles into a rolling bar... Couldn't decide on a gift for the wife so got something we can BOTH enjoy (but mostly her). a 12 mo subscription to a "wine of the month" club. So two hand selected bottles from CA delivered to our door every month. A little pricey and MUCH cheaper to go pick out a couple from the local store. Breaks down to about $25 a bottle which I guess is not completely unreasonable. First time in ages I have not traveled for the holiday. Feels a bit weird, but maybe a good change. May got to England in Jan/Feb and also have a work trip to Chicago in Feb. Could they have picked a WORSE month to go to Chicago? ETA: I have vaulted ceilings in the "parlor" so have an itch to fill the air space with something interesting. I was thinking a giant mobile suspened from the ceiling with something like a 10' working diameter OR create a kinetic pendulum wave piece like THIS . I would probably go bigger and use something like the size of softballs. I saw one made with bowling balls but that's WAY too big for the space (plus the load of swing balls - heh, swinging balls, may be too much)
Hope everyone's Holiday is safe and full of joy!

Elite 4344 | Subject: RE: NewTAN's Third Law of Motion MEH is moving to a new city. Kido is doing major home renovations. Those things put the holidays on overload. I am duly impressed with your skills. The Geezer clan are doing the usual Christmas with my wife's family on Christmas Eve. Then, tomorrow morning very early, we are heading to California to have a week with all the Geezerettes and their spouses and of course the two Grand Geezerettes. This is going to be fun. Did I mention that the house we rented is in Hollywood Hills right near the big sign. It was formerly owned by the actor who played (and apparently lived as) Hopalong Cassidy. This is going to be a memorable Christmas for the Geezers. My washing machine head is not on spin cycle so much anymore. I am very thankful for that. I hope it continues to get better. The AntiVert drug though has some effect on the ability to concentrate. I have some work to adjust to that. Merry Christmas. O TANnenbaum, O TANnebaum, etc, etc. Ya'll have fun.

I bought their "10 Days or Whatever of Kwanzaa" special holiday pack this year, and it turns out that today I found out that the final gift from them as part of it is part actual ownership of a private island in Maine. Ok, so it's officially just one square foot of land that is mine, and I can't say which square foot until I go up there and plant my flag to claim it, but I totally can now say that I own part of a private island.
Not bad for $11.
How was everyone's holidaze? |
