Hello, I'll be up in Asheville next week for a number of days and my mornings are open. Would anyone have any hints on trail running opportunities to get in 5 or 6 miles? And a lap pool would propbably come in handy as well, if there are any suggestions.

Thanks a ton.

I was just there this weekend and the French Broad River Greenway was excellent. Near the end of Amboy Road, various parking lots, and they even have an old short mile asphalt race track that was converted into a bike cyclotron at one of the parks.

It's flat and runs along the river we did 5 miles with no problems, the official start is near the campgrounds. Hope this helps. Anything you run downtown is going to be HILLY!

Thanks a bunch, I ran the Greenway this morning. And, I have my bike with me, so the velodrome may see some use as well.

Thanks again both of you!

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?
