Subject: Hello from Bucharest Romania Hey guys, I'm 45 and I just raced few weeks ago my first triathlon - sprint.
I was a competitive athlete 20 years ago, playing basketball for a club in Bucharest. Meanwhile the job demands and discovering my passion for guitar, kind of switched the focus from sports activities. Still I was doing sports in weekends, mainly swimming (before going towards basketball I was a competition swimmer as a kid ) and mountain bike.
I never thought competing in a triathlon, but my company was the main sponsor of a Triathlon event and I thought it would be a great opportunity to test myself as well as motivate my team at work to adopt a more healthy lifestyle. Quite frankly I did not prepare for this event (except 2 or 3 swimming training sessions during the 2 weeks prior to the race ). So here I am coming basically "from the couch" and competing in the sprint race. The swimming went unexpectedly well, but I rode a mountain bike (the only bike I have ) on an asphalt race and the running was "painful" - I walked half of running distance because of sore knees... I finished the race after 1h30min18sec. However it was a great experience that I definitely want to repeat.
Now I'm looking into ways of starting to go back in shape and train for future triathlons.
