Hello all... thought I better stop lurking. 4 weeks into a 12 week program in prep of my first Olympic. After talking with some people at the gym, now considering a sprint here in about 4 weeks. Got into pretty good shape leading up to training, 2 sessions of P90X after having our third child and realizing I weighed my heaviest ever, now down to about 165 from 190's.

Pretty excited but nervous as hell, realized I signed up for a tri that worked with my schedule (and excuse for a vacation/road trip), but realizing altitude and cold water in Banff Canada maybe was not so smart. Oh well, no turning back.

Here are my "stats" to date:

Swimming is a weak point for me, swimming about 1000m in a given session in the pool so far. Still probably suck in more water than air. :-/
I like the bike, but still struggle on technique on the slightest of hills just road about 23 miles in 1:25 with a couple good ups and downs. Using my father-in-laws Specialized road bike that I am tweaking for tri.
Did the Seattle marathon a couple years ago around 3:50. I enjoy running and think that my be my strong point.

Thanks for the great resource!!!

Welcome!  With a month left, if you can get one or two open water practice sessions in...even just 200-500 yards would help a lot.  If you get stressed out in the water, have your 'fallback' stroke available (breast or side) until you catch your breath and can crawl again.

Let us know if you have any questions.

I have done Banff twice. Weather is hit and miss that time of year and lake is cold. Make sure you have a neoprene cap and proper fitting wetsuit.

Oh and there is a decent hill on each lap of the loop. T1 and T2 are in separate locations. 450 ft gain per lap.
