I just finished my first tri on Sunday and I am hooked! Check out my race report for the Mighty North Fork.
By the way- what is the Athena division- there was one in my tri. Is it a weight class? Someone told me it was over 150 lbs- which seems really low to me- I mean my sister is a skinny twig but because she is 5'11 she weighs like 155.
Anyhow, I am pretty small (5'6 - 130) but just wondering?

Welcome to the site and congrats on completing your race! Yes, Athena is a race division for females, typically 150 lbs or more. The male counterpart is the Clydesdale division, although I am not sure of the weight requirement for that (200+ lbs ?).

Welcome!  Yes, the Athena division is a wt. class.  A lot of times it is tall thin women who kick butt!  Good luck with your training!

Thanks for all the warm wishes! I was thinking about doing the Mighty Hamptons race in Sag Harbor, NY, Sept 19. It is Olympic distance and I am not sure I have the time in my daily schedule to train properly for it- but I think I'll try for a few weeks to see how it goes.
Boy am I wiped out this week. Do you guys take some time off after a race or just keep training like crazy?

i took one day off after my first tri. my legs were sore from a hilly run on which I was less than stelar. so my first training day after that was an easy spin on the bike to work out the stiffness.

I am with you, and most people in here are. After your first one, everyone gets hooked. The fitness, competition, and it makes people look good. No skinny runners, or think legged cyclists, on top heavy swimmers. It is the complete package. The complete Athlete, the Triathlete.
