10 year old kid smokes the adults!

Master  2571    Tiger's Den |  Subject: 10 year old kid smokes the adults!I'm not going to be online much tonight, but I wanted to let y'all know about this 10 year old kid that competed in the Greenville Sprint Tri today with his dad. He's 10 and he came in 2nd in the 10-15 year old category. He finished the tri in 1:20:23 (this was a 400 m swim, 15 mile bike and 3 mile run). HOW AWESOME IS THIS??? He passed at least 8-10 adults on the swim and they all started 10 seconds a part. I just had to brag on him. His name is Sawyer and he was just the neatest kid. I think it's safe to say if he did that well at 10, when he's 20 he'll be tearing up the courses! His dad is 41 and he finished in 1:28:33. HA! Beating the old man already! I wish I had a picture of this kid. I am just so impressed!!! He did the 400m swim in 6:08, the 15mile bike in 49:04 and the 3 mile run in 22:50. SMOKIN' FAST!!!! I have no doubt that these kids can compete...One of my students from last year (only 11/12 year old.) is an awesome runner! I did a lot of 5K's last summer/fall and he was almost in every one of them. I think he actually was the overall winner in one of the races, but he always placed in the top 10, OVERALL!!!! He was a total running stud. I think he would run his 5K's in the 17-18 minutes...what a stud... His name was Quinn...what a stud...Just look up some of the 5K results in the Wheaton area and I am sure you'll find his name in the top 10 in every race. He always won his age group. Awesome post!!! |

Master 1938 La Crosse | Subject: RE: 10 year old kid smokes the adults! Well, of COURSE those kids are fast. Those little buggers only have to move 1/4 to 1/2 of the weight that I'm dragging around! Let's put a couple of 50 pound sacks of cement on their backs and see how well they do then! ( . . . I got SMOKED by this 12 year girl in a 10K once. She was running a sub-6 minute mile. And she had pig tails. 12 years old. . . . I felt like a fossil. A really slow fossil, too, not a velociraptor. More like a diplodicus. . . . ) Edited by stupidnickname 2006-08-20 8:56 PM |

Master 3019 West Jordan, UT | Subject: RE: 10 year old kid smokes the adults! Lets hope he keeps it up! When I was in high school I could run 5 miles in under 30 minutes. Then I turned into a couch potato. Now I can't even run a half mile.

My daughter competes in tris and she is 11...first race we did together I beat her by 4 seconds...and I know the time will come when she smokes me every time....probably next year. Sad thing I train like 10 times as much as she does. But she has the talent and desire. Last tri she did she was top third of the women coming out of a river swim....8 minutes ahead off the bike of the 14 & 15 year olds in her AG. Every race she does, everyone talks to her and is amazed she is 11, then normally say their kid xxx would never do this. She is normally the youngest one at the race. She loves doing them....and has done three so she can get USAT ranked..she is hoping for a top 5 place in the US this year. |
