that link is funny but I found the report another way. Way to stick with it through what must have been a very trying bike ride.

Jackie - Dave said it perfectly. Well done! first place in AG is always a bonus - and I don't care it was 1/1 :-)

Question: taking the CO2 from another rider - is that outside assistance and by definition grounds for DQ?

Reason I ask is that this happens all the time - gels, tubes, air etc offered during the race, we all know the hard work put in and don't want fellow competitors to fail on race day, but if this is breaking the rules we should all be aware and just ensure that no officials are around and the time we offer/take the help.

55' on the drainer. Got Trainerroad to work on my iPad so was able to ride Zwift on the laptop and Trainerroad on the Ipad. Interesting experience. Did 5' intervals just north of FTP. Couple time finished an interval just afetr flying by someone. Took discipline not to chase after them when they passed me in turn.

In case anyone is having trouble getting to Jackie's race report, here is the link:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp...

Congrats on the race Jackie - definitely a learning experience. I have yet to flat in a race, but your description of the stabbing pain in the gut brings back some memories. I am still not sure what brought in on, but my best guess was that I took in a little too much gel at one point and did not take in enough water to enable digestion (they say 7 oz for a typical gel).

Congratulations again to Gabe and Jackie!

Gabe, your time was fantastic, maybe we all need some more socialising and vino, who knows?
Jackie, many people would have quit in that situation, you have endured! Congratulations!

I'm off to cheer my friend from Sydney in his attempt to do full IM in Port Mac on the weekend. Fingers crossed for the weather, that region got some serious storms recently.

75' on the drainer riding Zwift's Watopia Island this morning. Layered on a TR workout of 3x12' at 92% FTP. Pretty pumped with ride. I didn't have the legs to hit the true targets on the intervals (3x12' @ FTP+) but I did set a 2 minute power PR while summiting the Island's main climb.

I've been battling a nasty cold (again) so I've missed a few days of training. On a brighter note, my awesome wife gave me a Fenix 3 for my birthday yesterday. I haven't had much time to play with it yet but so far it's pretty awesome.

Adding Thursday's easy 39' run. Been a bit of a taper week as I have a 10 miler on Sunday. Broad Street Run is the nation's largest 10 miler - 40,000 people. It's fast and fun, but logistics are a nightmare. Weather looks to be great. Using this race as benchmark for health and desire to race. Depending on outcome, I will plan the rest of my season.

Your training plan is a guide but you don’t blindly follow it. You shouldn’t know exactly what you are going to do until the day you are to do it.
