I have two pair of Bondi B's each are round 1 year old and have nearly all of my runs over the last year equally distributed among them (prolly 450-600 mi each) . I am an overpronator and the heals of both are fairly chewed up, but the shoes have so much cushioning it really doesn't really feel like theyare worn out. So my question is, how can you tell when it is time to replace a pair of Hokas? I've had a bit of pain on the lateral (outside) edge of my right foot, could this be telling me something?

I would think the pain on the outer edge of your foot is telling you it's time to replace the shoes. I usually get foot or leg pain if I've worn a pair for too long. I can get by doing 500ish miles on shoes before replacement.

Most of us that are running in them are doing it for a reason. The padding may still feel good compared to a more minimal pair of shoes, but not compared to a new pair of Hokas. I thought my Tarmacs were okay, but my hips were getting sore. I bought a new pair and then realized how worn the old pair really was.

hard to say exactly. I've gone through quite a few pairs of Hokas.

I'd say if they feel like they aren't providing the support & cushioning you expect, it's time for another pair.

They don't last as long as you might hope. I find the sole wears quickly in the strike spot, although I run in them quite a bit past that.

I keep the older pairs for bad weather days....not to mess up the newer ones.

I'm not one to milk the shoes for all I can, I tend to get another pair if it seems degraded.

I have been really unhappy with the fit of my two pairs of Hokas from 2014.

For that reason I have dug back out a pair from 2011! and 2012 and up until recently was doing most of my long runs in very old, very worn shoes without major issues.

I sure hope the 2015 version is much better than what they did to the shoes last year. They have been my go to long run shoe since 2011 but if something doesn't change with the fit of the shoe I'm going to be looking for a new brand......

It is the same for all shoes.
Did you like em? No - throw them away now and stop torturing yourself. Yes - buy another pair. Run in the new pair.
Did the new ones feel better? No - Put them away for now. Try again in a couple weeks. Yes - throw them away now and stop torturing yourself.

What to wear under the wetsuit? What to wear for the bike and the run? Good thing someone invented the wonderful trisuit, to which we’ve become accustomed. It’s supposed to make our lives so simple.
