Subject: Going public

With the idea that "Intention equals result" I am publicly announcing my return to triathlon. I will be racing Black Bear 70.3 on May 31st in The Pocono Mountains of PA. I've not raced a tri since the fall of 2013 and am coming off knee surgery about 13 weeks ago. I've registered for and DNS'd this race the last two years. This year I WILL complete it!

Though this may mean nothing to any of you, I say this now, "Shut up and swim"

..Don't call it a comeback, I been here for years
Rockin' my peers and puttin' suckas in fear
Makin' the tears rain down like a monsoon
Listen to the bass go boom

Explosion overpowerin'
Over the competition I'm towerin'
Wreckin' shop when I drop these lyrics
That'll make you call the cops

Don't you dare stare
You betta move don't ever compare
Me to the rest that'll all get sliced and diced
Competition's payin' the price...

So you're gonna put your worries on hold and get up and groove?

It's really good to see you again and wishing you smooth gettin' back in the groove.

Oh good, because I've missed you.

Wait, whaddaya mean, you don't follow the Ironman twitter feed?!

Yeah, some guy with more medals than Phelps (though less proclivity for happy herb) and I got hitched during an Ironman.

Considering our marriage began in agony that ended up with both of us in the ER, it really has only gotten better and better.

Please try to have a somewhat less eventful re-entry on May 31st ... don't think you won't be stalked. I'm watching you. Fish eyes. SWIM.

Because I'm not that fast going slow is, well, really slow - especially when I'm trying to train by heart rate. It feels like I'm going backwards. Is this normal?

The cause of the sleeplessness could be anxiety to get out and compete but more often than not the inability to sleep is a fear of what might happen, of what might go bump out on the race course.

I got a new pair of the same size / brand of shoes and started running on them. On my left foot, the toe next to the big toe starts to get a little painful and goes numb after the first 1-3 miles.
