Might have been covered but the BBC's excellent coverage of ITU can be watched for the next few days on their iPlayer catch up website. You do need to use a service to switch out your DNS settings (lots of people already use stuff like unblockUS to skip netflix region) as you need to be UK based to watch it.

Extended highlights of about 40 minutes plus some filler interview material with UK based pros.

I guess we will see a pattern emerging with Gwen J. skipping events where she does not fancy the bike section. SA was always going to be cold in the water and the bike course was known to be technical and power oriented. Made for a much more exciting womens race if you ask me so I hope they increase the bike difficulty of other courses!

I don't know about that. Comparing her 2014 season to 2015. . . looks like she started a week earlier this year and decided to take a breather before mid May. Jonathan Brownlee also took a pass on South Africa after doing the same races I believe. Honestly, the location is such an outlier, that I can't fault someone for passing on it.

From her blog:

"Thank you to all my sponsors for their support, Jamie and Patrick for their daily investments, USA Triathlon, and my family, friends, and fans. Without your help this journey would not be possible. I will miss the next WTS race in Cape Town. I will get in a good block of training before heading to Yokohama for the 5th WTS of 2015 on May 16th."

Was Cape Town that technical of a bike course? Seems to me like both the women and men had giant lead packs (around 25 for the women's race) and no one was able to make a breakaway stick. I think the women's race was more exciting because Gwen wasn't 90-120 seconds ahead of everyone at the end.

FYI, April 25th is Gwen's birthday, so maybe she chose to eat cake and ice cream instead of swimming in frigid water.

Does anyone think we'll get another "I like rice." interview after Yokohama?
