After years of avoiding it, I finally made the leap to join the masters group at my pool, the Sarasota Tsunami Masters.

And coincidentally, the new masters coach is none other than Sheila Taormina.

I can sum up my first workout with Sheila's parting advice to me:  "Better be prepared to take a nap this afternoon".

She was right,

Mark

Sheila recently moved to Sarasota and is going to be on deck a couple of days a week.  Most weekends she travels doing seminars and clinics around the country,

Super nice personality,   She has a nice way of avoiding saying "you suck" when giving advice.

She's planning to eventually add some swim/run and swim/bike workouts for the triathletes in the group.

I'm excited about working with her.

Mark

Funny you say that...my coach is the same way.  She was one of Sheila's teammates in the 1996 games (Ashley Whitney).

I'm totally jealous!  I took a swim clinic with her at a tri expo and she was awesome, friendly, and so knowledgeable.  Soak it all in.

Sometimes the best way to master something is to be around people who are masters of it. For non-swimmers - there is the Master’s Swim group.

Most of us in the triathlon world are concerned with more than just fat burning. There are certain situations when it’s appropriate to use fins during a workout.
