Yesss. This week is going to drive you nuts

I did my own half marathon this morning, low and slow, like I like my barbecue. I joined a running group for the first 7 miles then continued on when they were done. It was epic. Half way through a huge monsoon hit. While I was running on a pedestrian bridge under a traffic bridge, the rain collected and poured off all the different discharge points, so it was like running through a cathedral entrance way to a palace with waterfalls on either side of me the whole way. I ran up the greenbelt, again with waterfalls all over the place, and even ran through many sections of ankle deep water, and I absolutely had a blast. It was the kind of run where you tilt your head back, run with your mouth wide open and catch the rain drops. I ran by the bright teal barton creek with big colonies of turtles and swans, and in the deluge I was ballsy enough to take out my phone to snap a few pictures, but I wish I took a thousand more. Hope you all have equally epic workouts today!

Cool run! Have not been caught in a monsoon shower on a run for quite a while since I moved all my Vietnam running to early AM. Fairly epic workout here--started with one hour on the trainer, then took the tri bike about half an hour out in the country to my favorite bike trail and rode 2:30 there while Mom did the same. (We time it so we both finish at about the same time, though I go a lot further.) Then a 30-minute brick run. This is the route I always fantasize about riding when I'm training in the industrial park in Vietnam, and I took my best bike home so I got to ride it there. Just that one ride was worth the $$$ I paid to ship it home for the summer! (Though of course am going to do some more rides, plus two races with it.) Didn't take any pics but will try to post one from Google in a minute.

Awesome! Good to have you back home in the ol' USA. Oregon is so pretty, I'd love to go back there at some point. Crater lake is a fun place to camp out

Forced rest day for me. I came home from New York and went straight to bed. Flight was delayed 2:30 hours, so I guess I could've gone for a run in the airport, but it was NYC(cramped and people would look at me funny).

If you are able to honestly look at your routine and find the balance, you will be a happier person and a happier athlete as well.
