2 | Subject: First Triathlon Training Plan: Active Guy in his late 60s Hi all, After watching my son compete in his first international triathlon a few weeks ago, I've been inspired to do my first triathlon! I'm an exceptionally active guy in his late 60s. I can currently bike 20 miles a day three times a week, run 2 miles three times a week, and swim 800-1000 meters a day three times a week. I've recently gotten into P90X3 in the past couple of months, so that has helped with my overall fitness too. I would LOVE some feedback on the following triathlon training schedule. The race is Swim 1K, Bike 30K, Run 8K and will take place on September 6, 2015. 1300 | Subject: RE: First Triathlon Training Plan: Active Guy in his late 60s I'm confused on these Swim 6,7,6.... Is that laps ? Guessing that it is from looking farther down in your plan I would suggest cutting back on the days you are swimming and slowly increasing volume per swim. If you are currently swimming 800-1000m x's 3 / wk then keep to that and try to add a 4th day. I'll let the running and cycling crowd chime in for your run bike part of the plan. I do see two bricks (run then bike) which you are swimming also a week apart. You have them scheduled toward the end of Aug and not far off from your race. |

Check out some of the training plans on the BT site. Great plans for helping you pull off the race. I grew up in Columbus and visited Callaway Gardens a lot. Great place to have a race. Good luck. |
