Subject: First Triathlon Training Plan: Active Guy in his late 60s
Hi all,

After watching my son compete in his first international triathlon a few weeks ago, I've been inspired to do my first triathlon! I'm an exceptionally active guy in his late 60s. I can currently bike 20 miles a day three times a week, run 2 miles three times a week, and swim 800-1000 meters a day three times a week. I've recently gotten into P90X3 in the past couple of months, so that has helped with my overall fitness too.

I would LOVE some feedback on the following triathlon training schedule. The race is Swim 1K, Bike 30K, Run 8K and will take place on September 6, 2015.

I'm confused on these Swim 6,7,6....  Is that laps ?

Guessing that it is from looking farther down in your plan I would suggest cutting back on the days you are swimming and slowly increasing volume per swim.  If you are currently swimming 800-1000m x's 3 / wk then keep to that and try to add a 4th day.  I'll let the running and cycling crowd chime in for your run bike part of the plan.  I do see two bricks (run then bike) which you are swimming also a week apart.  You have them scheduled toward the end of Aug and not far off from your race.

Glad you are getting into the sport. Warning: It can be addictive.

Check out some of the training plans on the BT site. Great plans for helping you pull off the race.

I grew up in Columbus and visited Callaway Gardens a lot. Great place to have a race.

Good luck.
