Hey all, I did a very well run tri in Atlantic City by a fantastic organizer this summer and they have an inaugural open water swim event. 2015 Escape from Lewes in Delaware (230mi. from home) http://escapefromlewes.com/

Open water start (jump off ferry). There's a mile and 5k course. I have the MightyMontauk the following weekend (my last tri of the year of which I am geared for). My program and routine has been on point and have considerably improved from one race to the next. Throwing this swim event in there would be out of routine. This event IS tempting though....I have done multiple 1.5 - 2 mile ocean swims with swells and waves to battle with averages of 1.50/100yards....comfortable. My ows efficiency has improved. Pass on the Escape from Lewes? Do the mile? Go for the 5k? Thoughts?

If you've done 2 you can do 3.1, plus I just love jump off the ferry starts.  Mile seems like a waste of time, it's over so fast.  I say go for the 5K.  Minimal recovery required.

Looks like a blast. My only advice would be don't be a show off and try to dive off the ferry (if it's even allowed). I've seen people pull muscles in their shoulders and shoulder blades when the force of the water tries to pull your arms back behind your head jumping in from a decent height. other than that - have fun!

If you are like many runners you may be frustrated at racing 5K distances and never being able to run them faster. Improve your race pace with this flexible 12 week program.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had weight issues. I remember standing on the scale as a child weighing 60 pounds and feeling fat. My family dealt with stress by eating.
