Hi BT kids!

What's everyone doing on this fine Saturday? I ran 5 with my running group this morning around the lake. It was one of those runs where we got to the end and realized we had gone way too fast, but then every single one of us said "But I was just keeping up with you"

I had planned on going sailing after my run. After I got my boat all set up I bent down to get in and my gopro fell out of my pocket and sank like a rock, so I spent the rest of the morning diving 20 feet down and looking for it in the mud. I was just about to give up and did one more dive, and my hand accidently landed right on top of it. Cha ching!

I'm glad you found you camera.
I "found" my first DFL in a cross country race this morning. The hills were awful and everyone else was at least two years older than me. I usually come in the back of the pack, but the 22:48 5k got me last place in the varsity race. At least they raced the varsity and JV together so it wasn't as demoralizing. I'll probably go for a ride or run today because as hard as the race was, it was only 3 miles and I feel fine now.

Don't sweat it my man. I'm still amazed that you're running varsity as a freshman.

Yay for finding your go pro! That would stink if you lost it!
yeah don't worry about the DFL...those experiences are what builds you up as an athlete and makes you stronger. Every race is a learning opportunity and you still finished!!

Been a while since posting, just been busy and too tired lately...guess the IM training fatigue is getting to me :-).

Today was a HUGE day!! a local Tri coach hosts a supported ride 2x before Ironman AZ and today was the first one.

We ride on the IMAZ course and everyone does how ever many miles they need (some are training for 70.3, some just want to be out with some support. ) The IMAZ course is part along a local highway (11 mile stretch one way) and it is notorious for being littered with debris and you assume you will get at least 1 if not 2 flats when you ride it. So it was nice to know there were SAG vehicles driving around helping people.

Did 110 miles total in BRUTAL windy conditions (ugh, where did the wind come from?), and then finished with a 2 mile brick run.

Realized that I should eat a bit more on the bike, and at mile 85, a cold can of Coke tastes like HEAVEN!!!

Tough day, but felt good to get that done. Another workout closer to the race!!

It's been one of those perfect autumnal days in the UK.

Got on the bike and road with my Saturday group. No training just riding, perfect

21mi run.  only 5K at marathon pace.  too hot to do any more.

even though I started more than an hour before sunrise, it was 80F at the start, and 90 by the end.

Beautiful tho- Saguaro National Park.  Yay!

NYC Marathon in 5 weeks.

Don't stress. My first three races in middle school track (mile and/or 800m--forget) I was DFL in all three. Also younger than everyone else in MS and HS as I'd skipped a grade. I did end up getting one ribbon for third.....in a race with three kids. Somehow I never saw the light and realized I lacked any kind of talent, just kept plugging away at it because I really liked to run and wasn't much good at anything else either. I was state champion in the 2-mile my senior year in HS. Persistence and training will take you a long, long way in endurance sports.

As for training, someone seemed to have slipped a PED into my morning coffee yesterday. (Still wondering--I'd opened a box of "Cardamom Coffee" that I got last year in Cambodia. Good but really a different taste. Maybe cardamom can be the new beet juice? Sure tastes better.) Really nice hour-ish run and then 3500m of swimming where I felt absolutely inexhaustible. No idea why, as usual when I have a good or bad day. I know they did some work on the pool ventilation system over the summer, so it may just be that my body has realized I can actually breathe now.

Feeling confident and cocky, after finally losing some weight, I got off my back side and into triathlon.
