Hi kids.

Happy Saturday to ya. I'm on vacation this week so I left the hotel and ran just about 7 miles, in the middle of which I found myself on a 5k course and people were cheering me on. So I had to tell them thank you but I'm not actually in the race!

Have a great day

That's funny Jamie! I've heard of people joining races accidentally - bandit!!!

Today is a rest day for me, I have an OLY tomorrow so just hanging out. Took the dog for a 30 min easy walk.

I'm used to doing a bit of biking and running the day before a race, but my coach has me taking this day off so will see how it works!

Enjoy the weekend - the weather here has FINALLY cooled a little. It was 69 degrees when I got up. HUGE change from a week ago when I got up at 4am and it was 88 degrees! Going to enjoy it!

Have a great day all!

Yea that's not the first time I've accidently joined a race. The first time I was on my bike and all of a sudden the legendary Dave Scott passes me with a bib number on.

Enjoy the cool weather. I certainly am. It's the first time it's been below 200 degrees all summer down here in the south

Good luck with your oly!!!

Oh my gosh Jamie, that's hilarious. I'd love that to happen to me one day!

8:00am:  60 minutes on the trainer

9:00am:  Insanity Pure Cardio + cardio abs.  Had my 11 year old daughter join me--it was fun to have a workout buddy!

So kind of on topic/off topic.  This morning while I was on my trainer and really got into a groove and started pushing some bigger gears and feeling that old familiar burn in the legs I felt totally at peace, like "oh yeah, here I am..."  Since completing the Ironman and just doing willy nilly workouts has been great, and I now totally understand the need for a total off season, but I haven't felt like ME me since I finished the Ironman.  It was a really great feeling, like finding an old friend. And that's my deep thought for this Saturday.

Can't wait to hear about your race Susan!

I end up in "races" inadvertently something like once every two months. They are never advertised here, or if they are, not in English. Yesterday ended up somehow passing two groups of dudes in "uniforms" (one had the same shirts, the other, sports pennies) running what looked like a race (or training run?) with each other. Only stayed on their "course" till the end of the street about 1/2 mile, but I had taken the "lead" by then. Did get some cheers from them....

My best bandit experience was when I was 21on a run in San Francisco and I stumbled upon people warming up for the Corporate Challenge. I didn't know my way around the city, so asked an official if I could join just to get in a run and he said it was okay. Somehow ended up on the line next to Greta Waitz and we ran 10K together most of the way. (Clearly, she was not racing--she'd retired by then and it was just an appearance.) That was amazing!

66 minute run here. Felt pretty good, maybe because I let myself wear the Kinvaras. (They're not as durable as my other shoes, so I save them for long runs, since they slosh less and are lighter when full of sweat than the others.) Incredibly humid--really needed the light shoes!

Went to school hoping to do a swim and then tackle a ridiculous pile of work in my classroom, but THE POWER WAS OFF. Grrr. Lifeguard refused to let us swim. (Claims he can't see the pool, though it's not totally dark.) All we were allowed to do was stand at one end. I cooled off for a few minutes then went up to work in my room with no AC, no fan, windows that don't open. (Needed to use kids' files.) Just as I finished that two hours later, the power came on, but pool was closed as guard had gone home and locked up. Grrrr. Worked the rest of the day at home.

Headed out for an easy run now, then a trainer ride. Just don't feel like the sweaty 100 degree brick thing today, plus my next tri isn't for a long time. Doing maintenance stuff myself. I have never had that kind of "spiritual" experience on my trainer. Outdoor biking in Oregon, yes. Normally my favorite day is Saturday--a longer run and then a longer swim workout. I'm tired at the end, but they kind of balance each other out. It makes me feel like I'm a kid again (those were my first sports and I started them within a few weeks of each other) and I always think, "Yes, now that was a good day and I really accomplished something.."

It was cool and windy here. I couldn't get myself to get into the lake or bike outside so I did an hour on the trainer. Hurrah for Netflix.

Feeling confident and cocky, after finally losing some weight, I got off my back side and into triathlon.
