Hello there. I'm just beginning this deal. I have ran a marathon and some half marathons. My brother-in-law convinced me to try a tri. Very nervous about the swimming since I have never been a strong one. Will be looking for any advice I can get and looking forward to this new challenge.

Welcome! This a great place to ask questions about swimming in triathlon. I started 4 years ago and was not a great swimmer either and the members here helped me get through it.

Hi welcome to BT!
It's great to have you here.

It looks like you are from Cincinnati ... I'm from Columbus! In fact, the owner of this site is also from Ohio.
There are tons of great triathlon options in Ohio.

Also I was a TERRIBLE swimmer when I started this sport. Most triathletes are, when they begin. You'll find a lot of helpful advice and articles here.

Welcome!  Do you have any particular tri that you are training for?  Let us know if you have any questions and good luck!

I have not picked a specific trip as of yet. I'm shooting for the spring time for a sprint. I need to get that first race with the swim out of the way before I start adding any kind of distance. I have a tendency to go all out when I begin something, but I'm trying to play this one a little smarter. My wife is making me promise I won't go for an Ironman for 4-5 years. She is currently pregnant and wants me home to help with the little one more. But that is my ultimate goal. But I'm playing this one slower. Start with a couple of sprints and start moving up from there. Any recommendations for Tri's would be greatly appreciated.

We are just getting the race calendars entered for 2016 here on the site.
There are tons of great races in Ohio.
One that is near you that has been going on for many years and is reliable is the Caesar Creek triathlon by HFP Racing.
