Subject: RE: External battery for Garmin Edge You can use any USB external battery and a USB "on the go" charging cable. I believe the "on the go" cable is missing a pin that allows the garmin to be plugged in, but not recognize it is a peripheral device...thus it can still operate as normal while being charged. When you plug your Garmin into a normal cable that has all the pins, the Garmin goes into peripheral mode (as if your computer is connecting to it) and can no longer record anymore because it may be requested by the PC to download or delete files on it. At least that is my understanding of it. You can google for more info...there are many people who have done exactly what you are trying to do. |
