I grew up playing hockey. Blew out both my knees at the age of 15, which ended my hockey career. Then I got into swimming. Swam competitively for 4 years and the coached swimming for the next 5 years. I've always casually biked. But having ruined my knees, running is difficult and painful for me. I have 2 sprint tris under my belt now and am trying to get more serious about it. I train in swimming and biking, but do much less run training. I'm just in it to have fun and to try and beat my times from the year before. And finally, I'm located in central NY on the NY/PA border.

Hiya, welcome to BT and congrats on your tris!

I have dodgy knees as well (as do many members here). Definitely advisable to build up run very gradually, always at a low intensity, run:walk is probably a good idea too. Better to run more often but not very far than just 2-3x/week for longer.

Good luck!
