Elite  4583   |  Subject: 6.5.16 Sunday Funday!Hey BT! Heading out for a shortish hike with the doggies. My legs are still pretty tired from yesterday's race and it's hotter than Hades--don't want to keep the dogs going too long in the heat. Yesterday's race--it went well! I have to go back through my Garmin to get my splits--it was a time trial swim start but from what I can see on the results page they used the 8am official start for their numbers, I need to check that out. I placed 2nd in my age group--out of 2! Lol! My swim was what I expected, slow and steady but perfect. My bike was amazing--I killed it, loved it as usual. My run became a bit of a sufferfest--by then the heat was low 90s. I was much slower than I anticipated. Anyhow, I'll post a race report later! Off to hike a bit! Have a great day! |

| 72 | Subject: RE: 6.5.16 Sunday Funday! Kim- sounds like your race was similar to mine. I did a slow ride to let the legs recover. My race was tough due to limited training but I never quit...... although I thought about it. The swim was fast but I felt terrible the whole way. I don't know what the problem was but I fought my way thru the swim. It was a mass start with about 125 swimmers. It was a "love feast" for the first 5 minutes. It was grab and grope until your hearts desire. I swallowed more water than I knew what to do with it. I thought I was slow but the time was good. The bike was slow. I am the world's slowest cyclist. I averaged 16.4 for the ride. The run was good for three miles but went south the last 3. It was heating up quickly during the run. There were 5 out of 7 in my age group who averaged sub 8 minute miles. I was impressed as they kicked my . Due to work I did not put in the necessary training and got what I deserved. I have two months until nationals in Omaha. I need to quit making excuses and get motivated. Jamie- enjoyed the race report. I wish more people used pictures. |

Member 1004 | Subject: RE: 6.5.16 Sunday Funday! I did my first race of the season, the earliest one in Ontario. I felt good about each portion. An interesting thing happened which I have never seen before. Just before our swim wave was to start, the first marker buoy broke loose and drifted towards the second one which was the second side of the rectangle. This left some swimmers going out to where it originally was and then turning towards the second one and some swimmers cutting the corner which decreased the swim distance significantly. Unfortunate and a moral dilemma. |

Master 8247 Eugene, Oregon Bronze member | Subject: RE: 6.5.16 Sunday Funday! Congrats on the race! I hear you about "hotter than Hades". That is probably a cool day for us. 2 1/2 hour trainer ride followed by 20 minute brick run yesterday. I haven't done any running later in the day (after 6:30 AM!) since the race and it felt like oven temps. Checked when I got home and "only" 88 with 90% humidity, heat index of 104 (at about 10 AM). OMG |
