Hi All,

I have a 2007 Orca S1 Wetsuit and will be participating in The Tremblant 5i50 in a few weeks. There have been some changes to wetsuit rules since I last wore this. I am fairly certain that this suit is legal and have been searching the net for a definitive answer without success. The water will be cold enough. I am just trying to confirm that it is legal.

I will measure to ensure it is not more than 5mm, although i do not believe it is.

The only 5 mm wetsuit I am aware of is the de soto model.   5mm is THICK

I remember seeing list of several suites when the new rule came out.

I believe they were making suits that had patches of 7mm thick neoprene in some sections to give extra buoyancy.

The only wetsuit I've ever seen mentioned by name in any WTC athlete guide is de soto's rover

Not aware of any 7 mm patches, although you may be right.  They'd have to be very small and very strategically placed, I have a number of 7 mil dive sites, you could not swim in that thickness (even given different materials) without some high end engineering

I'm doing my first tri Saturday. It starts at 7 AM and the forecast is calling for a high of 82 (air temp). Do I need to rush out and get a wetsuit?

This is a 'first impressions' review of the Fit2Race Sockeye Fullsuit. From a first wetsuit point-of-view, I was able to dramatically improve my pace over non-wetsuit swims.

Some would say there are easier ways to get in shape, and they are probably right. My first worry was being able to squeeze into a wetsuit by race day.
