Subject: Lake Erie Great Lake Escape Swim Cancelled
25 knot winds and a small craft warning cancelled the swim today. Bummer...the swim is my strongest leg. It became a 5K run, 40K bike, 10K run. I have not trained to run 9 miles on the beach so I ended up a DNF, even though I showed up to race. I did the 5K run and then the bike, then turned in my chip.

Sorry to hear that. I think that exact thing is one of my wife's biggest fears since she is a self-proclaimed "non-runner"...me on the other hand would be happy with that!

Weak sauce.  I always hate when they do that, I would perfer that they just make it a mass bike start, but I'm sure there's all kinds of safety issues there too.

Wow, how disappointing!

That's hard to add on a 5K... at the last moment. Sounds like you made a good decision, completing what you knew you could.

awwww, bummer, that's such a cool race. That's the one where they're supposed to start the swim by jumping off the side of the ferry, right? Fat Rabbit racing?
