Hey Folks! I am brand new to this. I just decided last week that this is a dream I really want to pursue. I have a few preliminary things to do like: LEARN HOW TO SWIM! I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me. I am going to use the time that I train for my first Tri to lose weight and get into the shape I've always wanted to be in. I live in North Georgia (Atlanta area), so any advice on anything helpful in this area would be good too. I look forward to sharing my triumphs with you all! Yay! :-)

Welcome, You will find this site to be a great source of information, encouragement, and support. I look forward to hearing your triumphs. Have you set your sights on any races yet?

As far as swimming, I would recommend you look into TI (total immersion) swimming.

Welcome and good luck in your training!  Many of us have been through the swim issues!  Look for a master's swim group in your area, hire a coach, or read Total Immersion.

looks like your taking the step in the right direction, and this is a great site to get your questions answered, COgirl hit it pretty good, a good starting place would be the local pool and a masters program or adult stroke improvement classes-Ive been taking classes since may! good luck in your training
